It's been a year since my last blog here and many things has happened to the world since then. 2020 was not the year everybody quite expected it to be. Many of us were caught unprepared for its biggest surprise-the COVID 19 pandemic. It was like time stood still and all of our normal activities that we use to do everyday suddenly halted. From the 2nd week of March until the last week of May, it was our first time to experience being on a "lockdown" although we were not technically on a house arrest but i guess, the feeling is quite the same. Baguio City was like a ghost town during the lockdown. All businesses are closed, no public transportation and you cannot even see a single soul in the central business district of the city.
Last night after visiting my wife's family house, we left at a rather earlier time. We were not able to have dinner at their house cause her mom's still cooking the food for dinner and I have an online job at 8:00 PM. So off we go and looked for some nice and decent resto that we can have dinner. Lucky as we are, we need not look far from where we've been because right in front of the CIty Hall we spotted a newly opened dining place. We settled for it and fingers crossed we hoped that it will not disappoint us.
Sophisticated shoppers, culinary connoisseurs and foodies in the country’s summer capital, rejoice:Marketplace opens its first branch in Northern Luzon at Leonard Wood Terraces, Baguio City.
Last night, a friend of my wife who came home for a vacation from Bahrain asked us if we could possibly meet her and accompany her to try out Oh My Gulay Artist Café at Session Road. Well, we answered yes for a pretty much obvious reason. First, we don’t have to worry on who’s paying the tab and second, my wife’s haven’t been to Oh My Gulay before and she’s excited about the place. I’ve been there once, and after 5 years get the chance to visit it again only now. So we meet my wife’s friend and her boyfriend at Starbucks Café at SM City Baguio and after a few hi’s and hello’s, our group decided to make our way to Oh My Gulay café. We arrived at around 6:30 in the evening and surprisingly, there are only a handful of customers who are either trying out the café’s delicious meals or just passing their time chatting with someone and feeling the relaxed ambiance of the place. The first thing I did when we arrived was to proceed to the balcony of the café which boasts of a beautiful Burnham Park view and cool air.
Now, here’s a restaurant in Baguio City that offers good food that is equivalent to what you actually pay for and that is Salt & Pepper casual dining at the Citylight hotel. The resto along with the hotel had just been recently renovated and it now boasts of a fresh, modern ambiance that features a clean, minimalist, geometric architectural design with a chic Zen interior perfect for setting the mood for ultimate relaxation and superb dining experience. The place is located at the heart of the city, just a few steps away from Baguio Cathedral and Session Road.
This will be the first in our series of reviews of what’s cookin’ and eatin’ here in Baguio City. First on our list would be Point & Grill restaurant located at the Lower Ground Floor of SM City Baguio and a branch at Upper Session Road fronting Porta Vaga Mall. When you are craving for some home cooked good and grilled foods that are easy on the budget then Point & Grill will be the top choice.
