It's been 2 years and I know that this blog entry has been long overdue but as the saying goes "it's better to be late than never." It was April 5, 2016 when I got an email from Ms. Lia Pangilinan, a researcher from the Center for Kapampangan Studies at the Holy Angel University-Angeles City, Pampanga, asking me if it would be okay for me to contribute in her book project my personal experience about the devastating July 16, 1990 earthquake here in Baguio City. Without hesitation, I said yes and told her that it would be such an honor for my story to be published and be a part of her book.

An essential part of Baguio budget travel is to commute to different spots in the city by taxi. With the rising price of crude oil in the world market, Baguio City is not exempted from fare rate increase and basically, local commuters and tourists have to bear the brunt of this. As part of our social responsibility to our dear Baguio guests and visitors, we present to you the updated 2018 Baguio City taxi fare rate.
As we have promised during our previous blog that we will be featuring a Throwback series in some of the old and long gone places and establishments here in Baguio City, so here is the 2nd part of the series.
Another wonderful opportunity has been given to us courtesy by no less than one of the media giants here in the Philippines- ABS-CBN. For the 2nd consecutive time this year, Baguio Family Time was recognized by such respectable institutions as one of the reliable sources of events here in Baguio City. We received an email from Sir Justin Irons, media relations officer of ABS-CBN Corporation inviting us to be one of the lucky few media personalities in the city to witness the launching of Sky Direct.
Last week, National Bookstore SM Baguio held a 2 day "Color and Calligraphy Fair." The said event was conducted at the Main Mall Atrium, SM City Baguio from March 25-26, 2017, 10 AM to 6 PM. We, at baguiofamilytime.weebly.com were fortunate enough to get an invitation from no less than National Bookstore itself to witness the event but unfortunately we were not able to read the email sent to us by National Bookstore on time. Talking about a wasted opportunity.
This is a one worthy cause to be writing about and be featuring here in our site-Earth Hour 2017. The world we live in right now is not only wrecked with wars of all forms but also with environmental degradation and this is the worst form of destruction that humans can do to the only place we call our home.
This is the first in a series of Throwback Thursday blogs that we'll be doing here featuring old places and establishments in Baguio City that has long been forgotten or gone. As an opener, we will be featuring long gone cinemas and movie houses in Baguio City that is a part of our childhood and teenage life. Before the advent of SM City Baguio Cinema, these old movie houses were big hits whenever top grossing movies were shown.
Baguio City is celebrating once again its founding day-106th to exact and along with this year's theme "Nurturing the culture of caring and sharing towards competitiveness" the city has prepared activities in line with its celebration. Every September 1st is declared as a local non working holiday in the city to give every residents the chance to celebrate and be one in remembering the founding of our beloved city. So how does Baguio City came to be?
It's been 25 years already and it seems that as if it only happened yesterday. July 16, 1990 is a date which will live in every minds and hearts of each Baguio residents. I still clearly remember that fateful day. I am just a lad at a young age of 11 when the tragedy struck that changed Baguio and me forever. I was in grade 6 and only a handful of us from our section were left behind to clean our classroom which was located at the second floor of our school's main building as we were the scheduled cleaners on that particular day. Children as we were, we enjoyed every bit of our tasks like it was only a child's game unmindful that we were the only people left in the entire school and all of the entire school's population had already gone home.
It has been more than a week now and the weather hasn't shown even a bit of improvement. Still wet and freezin' cold in the suppose to be summer capital of the Philippines. Started with Egay and then followed by Falcon which ultimately pulled the southwest monsoon or the Habagat which causes this unforgiving weather condition that we are currently experiencing in the Cordillera region. Rain is continuously pouring all throughout the day and add to that, intermittent strong winds which currently makes the city a not so lovely place to roam or enjoy.
