Travelling to Baguio City, especially for first-timers, can be quite exciting and at the same time stressful. Exciting in the sense that finally the moment you've been waiting for all your life has finally arrived. You've been planning for it, saving for it, gathered enough information about the place and after so many failed attempts to do it due to unforeseen events like typhoons, unavailability of vacation leaves, and other reason which prevented you, at last, everything's fallen into its proper order and everything's good to go for you. And just when you thought that you have covered everything from the budget to your accommodations, the stress of what to bring with you on your vacation comes in. This is fairly a problem especially for first-time travelers to Baguio. So, to relieve you of this stress we've come up with few suggestions on what or what you should not bring with you on your Baguio vacation. EXTRA CASH Although we are pretty much sure that this is the first thing that you've done (saving) when you have tinkered on your imagination the idea of a Baguio vacation, it is still safe to be sure to, at least, set aside an extra cash (aside from your original budget) for emergency purposes like additional pasalubongs or for an extended stay in your accommodation and other unexpected expenses. Aside from the cash, be sure also to bring with you your ATM's or credit cards just in case you accidentally run out of cash. THICK JACKET AND MUFFLER/SCARF Surely, you wouldn't want to be the laughing stock among your friends or other people if, by mistake or by sheer stupidity, you traveled to Baguio in a summer get-up-not unless it's summer season. It is strongly recommended to wear thick clothing (especially during the night time when temperature could literally drop from 11° or 10°) like jackets, thick socks, bonnets, hand and leg warmers, scarf, shawl or muffler. More thicker if your vacation falls on the winter months of December until February. Now if it happens that your vacation falls on the month of June, July, August, September and October, it is safe to at least bring also with your umbrellas as the months mentioned falls under the wet season in the country. FLU/COLD AND MAINTENANCE MEDS It's also recommended to bring with you medicines especially if you are prone to cold related illnesses and high altitude sickness. If you're taking maintenance medicines especially for high blood pressure then be sure to bring it with you (and of course, take them!). Your blood pressure can increase, and that's a guarantee, when you are in Baguio. It is proven already via a medical research that your blood pressure steadily increases if you ascend to great heights and Baguio for your info, is settled about 5,000 feet above sea level. And by the way, don't also forget to take BONAMIN for motion sickness. Road leading up to Baguio can sometimes be nauseating most especially in Kennon Road. Don't be a killjoy to your own vacation and to others just because you didn't heed our advice. PERSONAL TOILETRIES When you're taking a respite from your busy work life and go on a vacation, well it doesn't mean that your hygiene does too. So don't sacrifice this thing for some lame alibis like "I totally forgot to bring them cause of rushing and everything" or "I thought I packed them already." Heard it and done that. When you're going to a vacation, it's very important to check or double-check for that matter if you've already packed all the necessary things you need for your vacation and these includes personal toiletries. Things like toothbrush, toothpaste, lotion, deodorant, shaver, floss, moisturizer, cologne and the like. While it's true that you catch more flies with honey, poor personal hygiene is much cheaper and nearly as effective. DIGITAL CAMERA/GADGETS Nowadays, man cannot live by bread alone but also with their gadgets. And definitely when you're in a vacation you simply don't want to miss out on all the awesome scenes and views that can be a vital piece of evidence that you've really been to that place or something that you can post to your Facebook page. So before you embark on a trip make sure that all your gadgets (smartphones, tablets, digital cameras, DSLR cameras) are in proper working condition and fully charged. Double check it that you really put it them on your travel bag before leaving (what good is it if you charged them all but you forgot to bring them). Well aside from the main reason of bringing along your gadgets for taking pictures, the other one is of course for communication. PRIVATE CAR This one here we're not really recommending but for the benefit of those who wants to have their own comfort when travelling especially big groups then, much as we hate it, then by all means bring along with you your own private transportation. The reason why we really don't suggest this one is because Baguio is just a really small place and we have experienced in oh so many times already particularly during peak season of guest arrivals that these small resort city turned into a one hell of a traffic mess. Imagine every guests brought along with them their own cars and try to stuffed them in a small space. Result is monstrous traffic jam starting from Camp 6,7,8 in Kennon Road up to every major roads in downtown Baguio. So please, if you can have your vacation without bringing your car and instead commuting via bus then we would highly appreciate it. But if it can't really be avoided and it is really a necessity, then you may but just for Christ's sake follow the city's traffic rules. Be a responsible Baguio guests. FAMILY Much has been said about Baguio being one of the top romantic destinations in the Philippines. We here at Baguio Family Time strongly recommend to visit Baguio and experience the magic and charm of the place to lovers. Stroll along the foggy roads of Baguio with your loved ones while holding hands and saying sweet nothings or be mesmerized by the romantic evening ambiance of Mines View Park with the full moon as your backdrop. Surely, you will fall in love (the second time around) not only with your partner but also with the place.
