La Presa has quite made a noise these past few months over the boob tube, social media and print media. Everyone is talking about it and so eager to visit and see the place for themselves. So how does a sleepy, farming village atop an inactive volcano has stirred a phenomenon like this? La Presa is a fictional village set up by the creative team of the ABS CBN teleserye show Forevermore. I won’t delve much into the show’s story since I haven’t saw even one episode of it and it would be unfair to talk about it without knowing the facts or the story of the show itself. So let’s talk about La Presa as a place instead and all the other things that goes with it. La Presa is originally Sitio Pungayan located atop Mount Santo Tomas in the town of Tuba, the province of Benguet. The place is inhabited by good and hospitable Ibaloi farming folks. Before one can reach Baguio City if you are coming from the lowlands, you have to traverse the long stretch of Marcos Highway also in Tuba . On a clear and sunny weather, you can already get a glimpse of Mount Santo Tomas. The best time to go La Presa is during the early morning when it’s still not foggy to get a good 360 degrees view of the entire Baguio City and nearby La Union province. You should wear thick clothing as the temperature there could become quite cold and altitude sickness can sometimes pose a problem as the place is 2,000 feet above sea level. How to get there:
By private vehicle-If you have a private car or transportation then going to La Presa would be much convenient for you. From Baguio City to La Presa travel time is usually 40 to 45 minutes via Marcos highway passing through Green Valley and Mount Santo Tomas Road and finally, your destination La Presa. By Taxi-Opting for a taxi ride in going to La Presa can be quite expensive. From what I’ve heard, the drivers would charge Php 300/400 going up to La Presa and another Php 300/400 in going down so you have to exercise your convincing and bargaining skills to get a good rate. By Jeepney-There are also jeepneys plying the Baguio-Santo Tomas Road but they will stop at a certain turning point there and will not directly go all the way up to La Presa. If you’re planning to take a jeepney in going there, take the Green Valley route. The fare is roughly Php20.00. Upon arriving at the jeepney’s turning point there are private vehicles waiting for tourist to take them to La Presa and they will charge you Php 300.00. Things you can do: You can basically have a good view of the entire Baguio City and the nearby La Union province, provided that the weather is clear. You can take pictures for your evidence that you’ve really been to La Presa, you can post on your Facebook account and let your friends die in envy. There are also souvenir shops which you can buy local souvenir products. Fresh Baguio vegetables and strawberries are also plenty in the area so you can buy and have them as pasalubongs or for your personal consumption. You can also have pictures on the actual house of Agnes, the female protagonist in the teleserye Forevermore. Camping is also one of the things that you should try when you’re there. There are camping grounds and camping tents which can be rented for only Php250.00. Bottom line, you are not just there to satisfy your curiosity about La Presa but to appreciate the beauty of nature and might as well de-stress. Things to remember: As a dayo or a visitor to that place, it would only be prudent that you should show and observed respect and cleanliness. Signboards are abound to remind visitors to observe cleanliness in the area. An environmental fee of Php10.00 is collected to every visitor to help the local government in maintaining the place. Café in the sky: Café in the sky is a restaurant, view deck and accommodation all rolled into one. Located at Mount Santo Tomas also in La Presa, you can have a decent view of Baguio while dining. It’s like you’re a god eating atop Mount Olympus and looking down on your subjects. The prices are pretty much pasok to the budget and they offer simple and straightforward selections of foods from breakfast, pasta dishes, desserts, appetizers and rice toppings. They also offer accommodations. A room which is good for two persons costs roughly around Php1,500 to Php2, 000 and if you are in a group of 8 persons they also have this room for big group which costs Php5,000.00. It’s complete with basic amenities like hot and cold shower, cable television and of course the scenic view outside your room. That's about it. Hope this information helped you. See you here in Baguio City and see you in La Presa.

Hello! I would like to ask if you can fetch us around 8:30 pm? There's three of us and we are planning on an overnight accomodation in Cafe in the Sky. If so, can you also fetch us the next morning around 11:00 am going back to Baguio proper?

Hello po Ma'am Shirly. We are sorry to inform you that La Presa is closed indefinitely for environmental rehabilitation by DENR. Cafe in the Sky on the other hand based on our knowledge is still open for business but you have to contact them beforehand for reservation. Thank you for visiting our site anyway. Have a nice day!

Car companies at Charlotte Douglas airport offer a range of vehicles to choose from. Each will be more suited to your personal needs, and it’s encouraged to browse through the choices or contacting the company you intend to hire with to get a more in depth look at what is available.
