Last night after visiting my wife's family house, we left at a rather earlier time. We were not able to have dinner at their house cause her mom's still cooking the food for dinner and I have an online job at 8:00 PM. So off we go and looked for some nice and decent resto that we can have dinner. Lucky as we are, we need not look far from where we've been because right in front of the CIty Hall we spotted a newly opened dining place. We settled for it and fingers crossed we hoped that it will not disappoint us. WHAT'S PINARES We are food lovers and we love to discover new foods and food hangouts here in Baguio City but we have to admit that we are not really familiar with this food called Pinares. In the City, sometimes we hear or encounter the word but it's not really as popular as it is with the other places in the Philippines. Curious as we are, we took to the internet, made a few tinkering on the keyboard and with the help of the ever reliable Google we finally learn what Pinares is. According to the results of the search, 'Pinares' or 'Pares' is a tagalog word that when translated in English could simply mean 'Pairs'. It's an ordinary Filipino food that consists of the main dish paired with a soup and fried rice. ABOUT THE RESTO, SERVICE AND THE FOODS It didn't disappoint us after all. The place was spotlessly clean and well looked after as it was only recently opened last August 2. The staffs were pretty much attentive to our needs and polite as well. What I love about their service is that you need not call their attention just to ask for the menu or have your water refilled. Price of the food is pretty much affordable and it's all Filipino. They have different kinds of pinares meals from pork, chicken, seafoods, and veggies. I ordered a fish fillet with tofu pinares while my wife ordered the boneless daing na bangus with eggplant salad pinares. Both comes with a sotanghon soup and garlic rice. Food is awesome, not too salty and not too oily-just the right kind of taste. They have a stand by vinegar and soy sauce if case you're not satisfied with the taste and you need to add more flavor to your foods. Aside from the pinares meals, they also have ala carte Filipino dishes. Serving and preparing time is also quite impressive considering that we are quite in a hurry. It only took them like 5 to 7 minutes to serve our foods. The ambiance of the place is relaxing and it may pass for a fine dining type of resto. It's also spacious and can accommodate families and big groups. WHERE TO FIND IT? Pinares Pagkaing Pinoy is conveniently located in front of Baguio City Hall.
