One dear reader of this site commented that they are planning to come and celebrate the annual Baguio Flower Festival or the Panagbenga Festival next year. He/She also said that they have a baby with them and they don't want to be overwhelmed by the huge volume of crowds that is present during the said festival and asked us to recommend any hotel that would be strategically located during the parades. So as promised, here is our article and recommendation to your request. Hope you find it usable.
Every year the City of Baguio celebrates the Panagbenga Festival or commonly known as the Baguio Flower Festival. It is a month long festivity full of activities and fun enjoyed not only by the local residents but also by tourists from all over the Philippines and the world. A bulk number of these tourists starts to flock to this resort city during the later part of the month of February where the famous street dancing and float parade are usually scheduled. Accommodations are a total problem during the said events as all hotels and transient houses are all fully booked. Another problem would be to find a nice and comfortable spot to watch the parade. These two major problems and others are what every tourists experienced every year during the festival's street dancing and float parade. As our small contribution to help tourists somehow avoid these problems, we came up with the list of hotels that have great locations during the parades.
Now let's have first a brief background on the route followed during the street dancing and float parade as shown by the map.
Here are our list of recommended accommodations.
1. Benguet Prime Hotel
This hotel is on the top of our list when it comes to having the perfect location and accessibility during the Baguio Flower Festival parades. It is located at the center of Session Road which is the main route of the parade and accessible to most of the major establishments like Porta Vaga Mall, SM City Baguio and others. The view is great from the room's terrace so if you're planning to stay at this hotel might as well reserve a room that have a view of Session Road. If you are looking for a place to stay during the festival that have a great view and is near to almost anything then this hotel is highly recommended. The only downside is that the terraces doesn't have any shades so better have with you an umbrella while watching the parade. You can check for more of the hotel's information at their Facebook Page @ https://www.facebook.com/pages/Prime-Hotel-Baguio-City/183376175153368?sk=timeline
2. City Center Hotel
This comes next to our list as a hotel with the best location. City Center Hotel is one of the newest hotels in Baguio City. Aside from having a fresh exterior and interior looks they also have one advantage and that is they are located at the lower Session Road which is just across the new Jollibee fastfood restaurant. The hotel is fronting Session Road which means that you have this cool view of the parade at the comfort of your own room. Also accessible to most establishments and is near to Burnham Park and the Baguio night market. Check their rates and other information @ http://www.baguiocitycenterhotel.com/
3. Casa Vallejo
Third on our list is Casa Vallejo. Recently awarded by the Baguio Centennial Commission as one of the 10 oldest institutions in Baguio City. Built in 1909 by the Americans as a dormitory to house construction workers who helped Baguio City, it has been brought back to life as a boutique hotel located at Upper Session Road which is just across SM City Baguio. The hotel is conveniently situated on the route of the parade. Only downside, no terraces to view the parade from above but they have an elevated part especially on the front desk portion of the hotel which could be a comfy place for viewing. Please check the hotel @ http://casavallejohotel.com/index.html
4. Bloomfield Hotel
Located along Leonard Wood Road, Bloomfield Hotel boasts of their high standard of comfort and accessibility. The hotel is just a few feet away from SM City Baguio and other establishments. Their rooms have a decent view of the parade. So even if you are late in waking up during the parade schedule, you don't have to worry as you just peep to your window and you could catch the event without leaving your rooms. More hotel information @ http://www.bloomfieldhotel.com/
Here's hoping that you will find the hotels above useful in your plans of celebrating Panagbenga Festival. The lists are based on their proximity to route of the parades, comfort during the parade, and their accessibility to tourist spots and establishments. We'll update the list for any new hotels. Ciao!
